Simple & Safe Microsuction Ear Cleaning, Performed by Experts

The microsuction technique uses gentle suction to clean the ear. A small, thin probe is directed at ear wax and/or infection in the ear canal. When carried out by trained professionals, microsuction is in fact considered to be the safest and most comfortable of all ear cleaning methods.

To increase the safety and comfort you experience, Hearology uses surgical microscopes so our specialists can work with absolute precision. Most other private ear cleaning clinics use magnifying goggles, which provide inferior magnification, and therefore less accuracy in the procedure.

We are also one of the few to use ENT-grade suction equipment, which reduces noise levels during the procedure, and provides superior suction and suction control.

With microsuction there is no need for pre-treatment, e.g. olive oil or ear drops.

The Procedure

Step 1

Patient history

Step 2

Microscopic examination of the ear canals and ear drums

Step 3

Gentle removal of the ear wax/infection with an ENT-grade microsuction unit

Step 4

Microscopic re-examination and final checks

Step 5

Better hearing and healthy ears

Before proceeding with any ear wax or infection removal, our fully trained, senior Audiologists use an ENT surgical microscope to examine the extent of the ear wax/infection problem and to determine the health of both your ears.

If the Audiologist considers it unsafe to proceed with microsuction for any reason, or if the symptoms you are experiencing are not related to ear wax or an ear infection, all your available options will be clearly explained.

If it is safe to proceed, the Audiologist will then begin the removal process using gentle, low pressure suction.

At the end of the procedure, the Audiologist will conduct another full and careful examination of your ear canals to ensure that the wax/infection has been fully removed, and that everything is as it should be.

In the event that it is not possible to remove all the ear wax/infection in a single sitting, we will invite you back for a free, follow-up appointment.
